The brances of a tree extend outward to reach to a person. Each fork in the branch is a twist and turn our lives may take. The intention of the tree is completely up to you.
This is acrylic on canvas. I tweeked it a bit in photoshop along with a frame and signature. This is a small image, I know it is somewhat hard to see the detail but I didn't want overwhelm the viewer. I want you to see the overall image rather then the bits and peices you would have to view one at a time if I kept the image so large. I will be submitting this one as a print if anyone is interested.
holy god, i love it. Color. Color is what makes this work
It was the only thing that clued me it wasnt a photo
i think it's pretty
-- It would be truly surprising if sound were not capable of suggesting color, if colors could not give the idea of the melody, if sound and color were not adequate to express ideas.
the one you previously posted wasnt completly loading for me but i got to see part of the details near the top... now that i see the full thing i am even more impressed! the flow of the branches and the assymetry really give a sort of balance between the two halves. i dont really know exactly how to say it: its the path our eyes take from one side to the other, is very pleasant, like a figure 8.
you know i always draw characters and stuff, but i also enjoy something beautiful and natural like this. nice work! nice to see you painting too!
Thank you. I liked the idea of one side of the photo sort of depending on the other you know, thats why I think I put the titles like I did.
No reference.... I am a Tree drawing junkie..... Trees are really wonderful things to paint... draw etc.... You just start with a branch and keep going until you have a tree. Thanks for the comment definately much appreciated.
Oh hmmm... I didn't know it posted the first time at all... it gave me a really bad error and I gave up on it...
Thanks for the lovely comment. I'm so surprised at the wonderful feedback I'm getting on this painting. I'm quite pleased. I usually call it "Flow" of the painting... the way your eye travels around the work. I know there is a technical term for it... but being sort of late tonight ,,, I can't think of it off the top of my head. Thanks for such a lovely comment I really appreciate it.

Very nicely done. I rather like how the branches also start to grow downwards (and if we all took Ecology 101, we know they don't normally do that!). I don't know if that was intentional or not (well, of course you did it because you wanted to though!), but there's some sort of weird symbolism there as well, if I could ever find it.
The sky reminds me of that long-exposure photography of the stars where you see streaks of light where the stars move across the sky (for some reason!).
In addition, interesting the way that you signed your name at the bottom as well, alternating between the background colors on opposite ends. Great touch to end it.
Thanks for the comment. I think there is a lot of symbolism in trees. When I was a child there was a tree right outside my bedroom window. I was on the first floor and the branches had a way of moving downward toward my window. I always thought of it as a metephore for my position in life at the time. Bottom branch sitting there trying to make my way to the top rather then slipping way back down which would be so easy to do. That is probably why I chose to feature that position of the trees. As for the Red and Blue I though that Happiness and saddness can't exist without the other. So featuring the trees as the journey through life happiness and sadness kind of are different halves of the same tree.
I don't know why I just went into all that right now but.... Hmmm...
Thanks for the comment. As always Its greatly appreciated. Your such a good friend.

Either way, great piece. I like the juxtaposition of the "Embrace" phrases, placing them beneath the other color.
